I 

I started very broad with the brief. I went at it very literally, thinking of my own space and the people that occupy it. Here is a rough sketch of my nephew Sam. I took numerous pictures of him while he was playing in the kitchen. I look after him regularly and find him a great subject to observe. I also began sketching my eldest sister, who I spend a lot of time with.

Jaume Plensa is a sculptor, from Barcelona, who I came across while looking for artists to research for the brief.

  I found his sculptures really visually interesting and also found that they helped me think about ideas and things to try out.

The start

I'm a first year student at The Limerick School of Art and Design and like the other first years, I've been asked to create a blog. This blog will show my progression of work and artists that I'll reasearch for references and ideas, to help me with the brief given at the start of the year, two weeks ago, 'to sense my space'.
