Monday , 12th November / The Long Cloud of Witnesses

I was sent a link last week by my cousin, to The Long Cloud of Witnesses exhibition.

The Long Cloud of Witnesses is a collaboration of five artists who’s collective workings in various media, exploring different aspects of the history of the Heath Street Baptist Church. The space and the churches histories were used as a starting point.

This particular work is titled 'Fade Away and Radiate' by artist, Piper Mavis. Sisal twine is used to reach every pew in the church. Mavis' objective was to fill the church again and the overall piece itself to suggest as like a telephone pole, radiate wires of conversation, 'the threads of fate in Greek mythology and the radiant lines in halos across many traditions.
Here is a comparison of on of my previous photos of the stripey shirt and Mavis' work done in the church, refering to the sketches in my notebook of 'my perception of sound'.
Followed by a photo of what I have up in my studio space. I started experimenting with linking wool.
