Texture Talk / Chris Natrop

Went to a talk at three today on textiles. There a group of us were shown different types of textures and the different ways and methods used to achieve them, from pleating to padding to shibori technique. I came away from the talk with the hope of using the method of gathering material for my project. I found it gives great volume to something which is initially flat and with using boning to add more structure, I will be able to bend and manipulate the material into my desired shape of sound.
The Art of Manipulation and Paper Tear Fold rip Crease Cut were two books recommended to have a look at, so I went down and to the library to get them out.
I think Chris Natrop, an artist that works with mainly paper, has really interesting installaion pieces. They really appealed to me as I could try adapt this style of work into my own piece.
