Monday, 11th September

so I had a tutor meeting last Thursday, which helped me out, hugely, (even though I did get a bit emotional during it!!).
I found I was getting very bogged down with wanting to have pieces started without actually  having a definite concept and concrete ideas. To be honest I was a bit lost.
I had been printing onto material with indian ink from a stencil, which I cut out from an up close image of a cows mouth. I enphasised the spaces between the creases on the mouth and thought it gave an unusual print that would work on clothes.

Although I still haven't anything definite, I feel more confident. My tutor gave my some great ideas, for example, I play the banjo and was suggested to wrap the strings of the instrument around my head and document it. I thought this was a particularly good idea as the banjo is within my space and the strings will be placed around me, literally within 'my space'.

Anyway, the plan, or idea at this point is, I'm going to incorporate my love of music into my work on the brief. As I play traditional Irish music I'll be concentrating on culture. My tutor made the suggestion to listen to music and make marks and also to get my little nephew, Sam, to do the same, then see what, if anything interesting is produced from the exercise.

Lets see what happens...
