Tuesday, 9th October

The start of this week is showing promise(thanks to the wonderful individuals I'm sharing a studio with). I'm still working on the banjo/ music theme but have swayed more towards the sounds the strings make but more so the visual side of sound.

Yesterday I put wire and two different types of string between two sides of cardboard and pulled them tight. Placing a sheet of blank, white paper and covering the wire and strings with indian ink, I started plucking and pulling and the wire and strings.

The results were interesting. And it was also really enjoyable.
I'm now in the processes of getting together a proper installation. The cool people in the material store in the college, are constructing a sort of frame work for my project.

There is one sheet of wood 70cm x 50cm horizontal and two side planks 50cm x 6cm, which have numerous small holes bore all over them, where I will have the strings and wire and again, place paper underneath them. This time I'll record people plucking and playing with the piece, noting the marks made but also having the sounds created by the pulling of the piece, recorded too. The people will ultimately place themselves within 'my space'.
